I'm planning a water feature and I'd like to know if you (Lorne) or anyone forsees any delaminating issues, or any other issues if the Winterstone is spread over wire mesh (which will be attached to steel substructure -beams) much like stucco or other cementaceous materials used for building facades? Would I be asking for trouble if the Winterstone were to be in contact with the steel beams as it is pushed through the mesh? Basically, now that I try to describe it... I'm just trying to coat the beams with Winterstone.
Steel and wire mesh are to be coated to inhibit rusting.
thanks for any info or advice.

Hi JUSTIN--------Properly mixed & applied there should no problems
with delaminating or other issues---------because it is to be a water feature I do recommend the use of a breathable surface sealer.

Hi JUSTIN-----A "breathable" sealer is one that allows water vapour
to escape-------generally most acrylic type sealers used in sealing concrete& masonry will be breathable & can be had at your
HOME DEPOT BUILDING SUPPLY-----lorne |

Justin,
I'm relieved to see this posting as I'm preparing to work on a bird bath that will hold water and wondered how well the Winterstone worked for you? Do you have any pics of your work?
This forum doesn't appear to be as active as I had hoped that it was. But, I'm still looking to chat directly with others who've crossed these bridges before me.
Thx for responding,
Crystal |

Sorry for such a late reply - I've been doing other things.
Haven't built my winterstone waterfeature yet either. Sorry, but I have no experience with winterstone to advise you of - yet. |
